SOME FACTS ABOUT ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES?
We ought to get rid of all these bogus asylum-seekers, they're just economic migrants.
Did you know that asylum claims which fail do not make people ‘bogus’ ? They are ‘disbelieved’ and often unable to back their stories with evidence. We also need economic migrants with our workforce shrinking and the population ageing and are advertising for foreign workers for many of our services.
They're just coming to live off our benefits.
Did you know asylum-seekers always had 10% less than UK citizens and now it’s 30% less? Many of those fleeing persecution were well-paid professionals, had to sell everything they had to get here and certainly want to work again as soon as they are allowed and not live on benefits`
What should we do then?
We must lobby politicians and press to stop frightening people with the lie about being ‘swamped’ by refugees or economic migrants and tell the truth of how few come to Europe or UK. (Most of the world’s refugees stay in the poorest countries).
Politicians must tell the public how much we benefit from refugees (Einstein, Marks and Spencer etc) and how much we rely on them and migrants in all our industries for our wealth-creation.
We must energetically address the bad housing, education and welfare of our own people instead of blaming refugees for it, and help better integration in mixed communities.
We must stop calling refugees ‘illegals’ whilst preventing them entering the country legally under the Geneva Convention; stop the ’culture of disbelief’ with bad decisions causing the delay of appeals and stop detention and returning them to danger.
We must remember what refugees are fleeing from and how much our own policies have been partly responsible for international poverty and wars.
Those fleeing independently, as well as those previously accepted by the U.N. deserve a fair and decent system across Europe with right to work while their cases are humanely and rapidly assessed.
We must stop exploiting the cheap ‘illegal’ migrant labour we need to run our economy and ensure legal status, tax-paying and protection. We must give ”green card” work permits, not only for the highly-skilled but for those who do the jobs no-one else wants.
